Tracking Green Hydrogen Projects - Turning Straw into "Green Gold": Winnernergy's Handan Green Methanol Project Sets a Benchmark

Recently, Windey's 180,000-mt Handan Green Methanol Project made its debut at the Straw Comprehensive Utilisation Exhibition hosted by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hebei Province. The intelligent storage and transportation system, efficient gasification unit, and methanol synthesis equipment on display attracted widespread attention.

As a key green energy project in Hebei Province, Windey's Handan Green Methanol Project has pioneered a "dual-cycle" development model integrating "energy + agriculture". It not only leverages a straw collection and storage network involving "enterprises + cooperatives + farmers" to address the issue of straw burning pollution at its source, but also innovates an entire industry chain of "straw collection - storage - pretreatment - biomass gasification - methanol refining and synthesis", breaking through key technological bottlenecks in straw removal from fields, storage, and briquetting, thereby truly opening up a pathway for the conversion of agricultural waste into high-value-added energy products.

Sun Chenguang, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hebei Province, stated that the straw full-value utilisation system established by the project will significantly enhance the efficiency of straw energy conversion, contributing to Hebei's goal of becoming a demonstration province for "zero-waste agriculture".

Chen Tao, Deputy Director of the Handan Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, added, based on the actual agricultural situation in Handan, that the project's supporting straw-related layout has been completed, with an annual straw consumption capacity of 500,000 mt, equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 420,000 mt. "This is not only an ecological project but also a people-enriching project, vividly demonstrating the transformation of 'lucid waters and lush mountains' into 'invaluable assets'."

The first phase of the project is expected to commence production in 2027. By then, a green industrial cluster centered around the resourceful utilisation of straw, closely linking agricultural quality improvement and efficiency enhancement, green energy transformation, and ecological protection, will be rapidly emerging in the land of Yan and Zhao, contributing a solid "Windey Solution" to the comprehensive utilisation of agricultural waste nationwide.
